University of Southern Maine selected as Top seed in 2007 Division III New England Field Hockey Championship
CAPE COD, Mass -- After finishing the regular-season with a 15-7 record, the University of Southern Maine was selected as the number one seed in the 2007 Division III New England Field Hockey Championship. The tournament is an eight-team field with a play-down format.
In the first-round on Wednesday, November 5 No. 1 University of Southern Maine (15-7) will play No. 8 Plymouth State University (10-8) at 2:30 p.m. at Southern Maine while No. 2 Bridgewater State College (13-6) will face No. 7 Endicott College (11-6) at 2:00 p.m. at Bridgewater State. No. 3 Nichols College (15-6) plays No. 6 Castleton State College (12-6) at 4:00 p.m. at Nichols and No. 4 Wheaton College (13-6) will face No. 5 Saint Joseph's College of Maine (12-6) at 2:00 p.m. at Wheaton.
The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, November 10 at the highest remaining seed. The winner of Southern Maine/Plymouth State will face the winner of Wheaton/Saint Joseph's while the winner of Bridgewater State/Endicott will play the winner of Nichols/Castleton in the other semifinal. The semifinal winners will meet on Sunday, November 11 for the championship at the highest remaining seed.
