Harvard Claims 2005 ECAC Division I Women's Golf Championship

Cape Cod, Mass. - Harvard University captured the
ECAC Division I Women's Golf Championship at Ballymeade Country
Club in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Sunday. The Crimson
(321-329, 650) won the event by a landslide as
they teamed up to card 55-strokes less than second
place University of Hartford (348-357,705).
Long Island University (345-363, 708) captured third
place while Boston University (359-351, 710)
and Lehigh University (349-376, 725) rounded out the
top five in the Championship.
Harvard freshman Ali Bode (Pittsburgh,Pa.) was
the individual medalist as she carded a 79 on the first day and an
82 on the final round for a 161. Teammate Jessica
Hazlett, a sophomore fromPalo Alto,Calif. finished
one stroke behind (82-80, 162) tying withLong Island's Natalie
Desjardins (83-79, 162) for the runner-up spot. Tied for
third place was Harvard freshman Emily Balmert (80-84, 164) and
senior Jen Cronan (81-83, 164).
The ECAC held six men's golf championships in the fall season
including a Division I Men's Golf Championship, a Division II Men's
Golf Championship and four
Division III Championships. The women's
tournament was the seventh ECAC golf championship of
the fall.
