Rhode Island Claims 2006 ECAC Women's Tennis Championship
Newport, Rhode Island - The University of Rhode Island finished with a total of 16 points to earn the overall team point title at the 2006 ECAC Women's Open Tennis Championships on Sunday, September 17.
The two day championships were supposed to be played on the grass courts at the International Tennis Hall of Fame (Newport, RI). Due to inclement weather over Friday night, Saturday's matches were moved to the St. George's School (Newport, RI). After a day of drying off, the grass courts were playable for Sunday.
Earning individual gold were Olivia Fleszar (University of New Hampshire), Paulina Rys (Fairfield University), Diana Postupack (Fairfield University), Nyssa Peele (University of Rhode Island) and the doubles team of Julie Arthofer/Victoria Vityuk (Lehigh University).
