BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Senior Carrie
Kane scored the first two goals of the game and finished with eight
goals to lead The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team to a
21-9 victory over St. John Fisher College Sunday in the
championship game of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)
Upstate New York Women's Lacrosse Tournament in Brockport.
Kane was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament as
she led Brockport (14-4) to a school-record 14th victory of the
season.
Brockport scored the first three goals of the contest and held a
5-1 lead after Kane netted her third of the game, but St. John
Fisher (11-8) battled back with three consecutive goals to cut the
lead to 5-4. The teams exchanged goals over the next minute before
Brockport scored three times in a span of three minutes to take a
9-5 lead. The Golden Eagles led 10-6 at halftime.
In the second half, Brockport scored two goals in the first
minute, including one in the first 14 seconds of the half by senior
Julia Decker. After the Cardinals scored to make it a 13-7 game
with 27 minutes left in the half, Brockport scored the next five
goals, including two by Kane - the 100th and 101st goals of her
career- to take a commanding 18-7 lead.
Fisher scored on a free-position shot with 16 minutes left but
Brockport tacked on four more goals, including the school-record
breaking goal by Kane with 8:48 left in the game.
Kane finished with eight goals and one assist and Decker added
five goals and two assists. Senior Kim Winslow and Jenny Baccile
each scored twice for the Golden Eagles.
Brockport freshman Jamie Kaminsky made eight saves and established
