Harvard University Wins 2008 Open Men's Swimming & Diving Championship

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Harvard University men's swimming & diving team collected a total of 524 points at the 2008 Open Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, good for a 60 point win over second place finisher Johns Hopkins University (464).
Rider University (385), Yale University (353), and Marist College (326) rounded out the top five.
Two Harvard swimmers captured individual event wins to help lead the Crimson to the title. Thomas Gray won the 200 Freestyle in a time of 1:41.49, while teammate Rob Lynch took the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:50.37.
John Thomas of Johns Hopkins was named 'Swimmer of the Meet' for his efforts over the weekend, and Devon O'Nalty garned the 'Diver of the Meet' honor. Thomas won both the 100 Backstroke (49.75) and 200 Backstroke (1:49.58) individually, while helping his team to three relay victories. O'Nalty finished on top in the 3-meter Dive event, posting a score of 318, before coming in second off the 1-meter board after 285.70 total.
George Kennedy of Johns Hopkins and Marist's Melanie Bolstad were named 'Swimming Coach of the Meet' and 'Diving Coach of the Meet', respectively.
