2007 Women's Division III Metro Basketball Championship

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The fifth seeded Montclair State women's
basketball team (18-10) upset second seeded Farmingdale State
(21-8) by a score of 85-70 to win the ECAC Metro Championship
tonight in Farmingdale, N.Y. Red Hawks senior forward Stephanie
Machin (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) received MVP honors
after leading Montclair State to victory, posting team-highs 21
points and 10 rebounds.
The Red Hawks lead by two, 38-36, at half and never gave it up,
increasing their lead to seven early in the second. The Rams were
able cut the lead down to one but gave it all back as Montclair
State worked the lead up to 17 points. Senior forward Ferin Catlett
(Lawn Side, N.J./Haddon Heights) finished 16 points and seven
rebounds.
Farmingdale was led by freshman guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn,
N.Y./Benjamin Banneker), who dropped a career-high 36 points and
grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Junior guard Christine Daley
(Elmont, N.Y./Elmont) added 15 points and 8 rebounds.
The Rams will look forward to next season as they are only losing
one senior. Guard Rochelle Clark (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport), playing
in her last game as a Ram, contributed 9 assists.
