Yale University to Host 2009 ECAC Division I Women's Gymnastics Championship
The 2009 ECAC Division I Women's Gymnastics Championship will begin tomorrow, Saturday, March 21st at 1:00 p.m. at Yale University's Payne Whitney Gymnasium. Seven teams will compete for this year's championship. Those teams include: Brown University, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, Towson University, College of William & Mary, and Yale University.
Tonight, at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale, the ECAC hosted the end-of-the-year banquet to honor student-athletes and coaches. Kristin Milardo from the College of William & Mary received the ECAC Rookie of the Year award, while Nikki Berrian of Temple University was named ECAC Specialist of the Year. Alina Yiao of Yale University, Lauren Tatsuno of Yale, Maddie Pearsall from Cornell University, and Jennifer Sobuta from Brown University were honored as this year's ECAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year. Assistant Coach of the Year honors went to Cornell's Melanie Dilliplane. The final award of the evening went to Alina Yiao of Yale, as she earned the ECAC Athlete of the Year award.
At the conclusion of tomorrow's championship, the ECAC Coach of the Year will be honored along with team and individual winners.
