Cortlands Christine Haungs Earns ECAC Division III Womens Gymnastics All-Around Athlete of the Week
All-Around of the Week
Christine Haungs, SUNY-Cortland
Junior, Derby, NY
Haungs is making a case that she may be one of the top all-arounders in Division III. She has scored the highest all-around in the East this year massing a 38.175 in a dual meet against Rutgers, wining the all around. She garnered a 9.600 vault (second place), 9.5 (second place) on uneven bars, 9.575 on floor with a second and tied for third on beam with a 9.5.
Co-Rookies of the Week
Casey Lesieur, Rhode Island College
Freshman, Coventry, RI
Lesieur posted career-high marks, finishing first on bars (8.95), beam (9.45), floor (9.55) and in the all around (36.925). She led her team and helped RIC to score a 176.85, their highest team score in three seasons.
Leanna Morinishi, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Freshman, Chesterfield, Mo.
Morinishi posted career high scores on the vault 9.375, bars 9.45 and floor 9.35 on her way to a .55 improvement over her career high all-around score. Her new career high score of 37.60 was good enough to finish second at the Harriett Marranca Invitational hosted by Ithaca College. She also finished third on beam just .025 from first place with a 9.425.
Specialist of the Week
Katie Mingo, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Junior, Coon Rapids, Minn.
Mingo's three years at MIT have been plagued by injuries. She has been a very consistent competitor on beam and floor, but an injury freshman year prevented her from competing bars at all. This past weekend marked her first ever all-around meet for MIT at the Harriett Marranca Invitational hosted by Ithaca College. More importantly, Mingo's dedication to come back from injuries and contribute to the team was reflected in a 3.5 point jump in team score to a season high 182.625.
