Connecticut Repeats at 2008 ECAC Division I Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Connecticut won the ECAC Division I Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, defending its title from 2007.  The Huskies total of 60.50 points was good enough to get past second-place finisher, Seton Hall University, which had a score of 49.

Syracuse University came in third place with a total of 47 points, while Boston College (40) and George Mason University (36) rounded out the top five.

Two Huskies captured individual event wins to help lead Connecticut to victory.  Tamara Highsmith jumped past everyone in the Triple Jump, traveling a distance of 13.15m (43-1.75).  Mandela Graves-Fulgh sprinted to the line first in the 400-meter Dash, crossing in a time of 54.54 seconds.

The 'Most Outstanding Performer' nod went to George Mason University junior Murielle Ahoure.  Ahoure won the 60-meter Dash (7.45) and the 200-meter Dash (23.74), just like she did in 2007.

In the Weight Throw event, senior Jasmine Jennings of the University of Rhode Island set an ECAC Meet Record with a toss of 19.86m (65-2).  This topped the previous mark of 19.79 meters which was set in 2002.

In addition to Ahoure's two repeat wins, three other events saw the 2007 winners finish on top once again.  Janessa Murphy of Pittsburgh captured the Long Jump, Seton Hall's Alexandra McCoy took the 500-meter Dash event, and Duke's 4x800 Relay squad was also victorious for the second year in a row.
